Ryman doesn’t run a traditional first order discount code in the way some retailers do — no automatic percentage off your first basket just for being a new customer. But there’s a genuine way to get 10% off your first order, several other discounts most people have no idea exist — including a key worker discount covering NHS staff, teachers, military personnel, police and fire service workers — plus a real, working free delivery code straight from Ryman’s own vouchers page. If you’re buying art supplies, stationery or office materials from Ryman and you’re not using at least one of these, you’re leaving money on the table.
I’m Paul Worrall. I’ve spent 16 years in the art supplies industry — nearly a decade of that running digital marketing for one of the UK’s largest online art retailers — and I now run Discount Art Supplies, a price comparison platform with over 41,000 followers across our community channels. Finding every available discount code, sale offer and saving across UK art and stationery retailers is essentially what I do. Here’s everything I’ve found on Ryman — verified directly against their official vouchers page.
You can also browse all current Ryman deals and sale offers on our Ryman deals page which we keep updated in real time.
Does Ryman Have a First Order Discount Code?
Ryman doesn’t run a dedicated first order discount code in the traditional sense. You won’t find a promo code waiting for you at checkout just for being a new customer. What Ryman does offer is a 10% discount on your first order when you sign up to their email newsletter — but only on orders over £30, and the discount arrives via the welcome email rather than being applied automatically. It’s not marketed as a first order discount, but functionally that’s exactly what it is. If you’re placing your first Ryman order and it’s going to be over £30, sign up for the newsletter before you checkout and wait for the welcome email. The 10% discount code will be in there.
Is it worth doing? At £30+ spend, 10% is a £3 minimum saving — nothing dramatic, but it costs nothing and takes about thirty seconds. At a £60 spend it’s £6 off. Worth doing. Just make sure you apply the code before completing your purchase — Ryman’s terms are clear that discounts cannot be applied retroactively once an order has gone through.
Ryman Free Delivery Code — FREEDELIVERY50
This one is published directly on Ryman’s own vouchers page and it’s a genuine working code: use FREEDELIVERY50 at checkout to get free standard delivery on orders over £50. The offer is valid until 4th November 2026 and applies sitewide with no specific brand exclusions. If you’re spending close to £50 already, it’s worth adding something small to tip over the threshold — paying for delivery on a £48 order when you could spend an extra couple of pounds and get it free is an easy win. Click and Collect from any of Ryman’s 180+ UK stores is also free automatically, with no minimum spend required and no code needed.
Ryman Key Worker Discount — 5% Off via Gocertify
This is the Ryman discount that most people don’t know about, and it’s genuinely worth flagging. Ryman offers a verified 5% key worker discount code through Gocertify — a platform that confirms your employment status before issuing a unique code. The categories covered are: Healthcare and NHS workers, Military personnel, Teachers, Police and Fire Service workers, and Care and Social Workers. If you fall into any of those groups, you qualify for 5% off at Ryman and all you need to do is verify through the Gocertify portal.
Five percent isn’t a life-changing discount, but on a larger stationery or art supplies order it adds up. Gocertify verification is quick — usually just an employment email address — and the code can be used repeatedly once verified, not just on a first order. That makes it significantly more valuable over time than a one-off new customer discount. If you’re an NHS worker or teacher buying from Ryman regularly, this is definitley one to set up once and keep using. Head to Ryman’s website and look for the key worker discount section to start the Gocertify verification.
Ryman Student Discount — 10% Off via UNiDAYS or Gocertify
Students get a better deal than key workers at Ryman — 10% off rather than 5%, verified through either UNiDAYS or Gocertify. The student discount is available to anyone over 15 in full-time education, which includes university students, college students, sixth formers and high school students. That’s a broader eligibility than most retailers apply, and it makes this one of the more accesible student discounts around.
The 10% student discount code is applied at checkout but cannot be combined with other offers. It also excludes a fairly long list of product categories — Apple products, Kindles, tablets, cameras, printers, PC software, clearance lines, Pokemon products and a few others — so it’s most useful for stationery, art supplies, paper, pens and everyday consumables that students actually buy from Ryman most often. Both UNiDAYS and Gocertify offer free sign-up, so there’s no cost to accessing the code. One thing to note from Ryman’s own FAQ: you can’t use two voucher codes together, so use whichever gives you the best saving on any given order.
Ryman Senior Discount — 5% Off for Over-60s
Ryman offers a 5% senior discount for customers aged 60 and over, also verified through the Gocertify platform. Age verification through Gocertify is straightforward and once done, the discount code can be used on future orders too. Like the key worker discount, the terms state this offer runs to 5% off and cannot be combined with other codes or promotions at checkout. Head to ryman.co.uk and click through to their official voucher page to find the senior discount verification link.
Ryman Sale — Current Deals Worth Knowing About
Beyond the fixed discount codes, Ryman runs a live deals section on their vouchers page with specific sale offers. At the time of writing, there’s 20% off selected kids art and craft products — worth a look if you’ve got children who are always raiding your supplies (I speak from experience with two kids at home). Ryman has been on the high street since 1893, which gives them the buying power to run sale offers on branded products that smaller retailers can’t match, and their clearance events in particular can surface some genuine bargains on stationery and art materials.
The broader Ryman sale calendar tends to be most active around back-to-school season in August and September, Black Friday in November, and January clearance — so if you’re not in a hurry, timing a larger order around one of those events can get you deeper savings than any standard discount code. Our Ryman deals page tracks all current sale offers so you don’t have to keep checking manually.
Ryman for Art Supplies — Is It Worth It?
Ryman is primarily a stationery retailer rather than an art supplies specialist, and that shows in the range. You won’t find professional watercolours, premium oil paints or anything the serious artist would be searching for. What you will find is a solid selection of everyday art and craft materials — sketchbooks, drawing pencils, colouring supplies, basic acrylic sets, canvases and markers — that serve hobbyist artists and students perfectly well without requiring serious investment.
Where Ryman makes sense for artists is convenience and value stacking. The free delivery code FREEDELIVERY50, combined with the student or key worker discount, means you can be getting 10-15% off effectively with free shipping on a single order. That’s competative with most specialist art retailers on basic materials. For everything professional — watercolour paper, quality paints, specialist brushes — our paints and mediums deals page compares live sale prices across Cass Art, Jacksons, Amazon and Crafty Arts in real time. But for everyday art materials and stationery in one order, Ryman with the right discount code is a perfectly reasonable choice.
Is Ryman Trustworthy? A Quick Note on Reviews
Genuinely, yes — this isn’t one that needs much scrutiny. Ryman has been trading on the UK high street since 1893, and with 180+ physical stores alongside the website, it’s about as established and low-risk a retailer as exists in this space. Reviews of the stationery and art supplies range are consistantly solid, with the usual retailer feedback split between store experience and delivery times rather than anything raising genuine concern. If you’re weighing up a first order and wondering whether it’s a safe bet, it is.
