Helping 30,000+ UK artists save money on art supplies

The Works: Inspiring Creativity, Reading & Play for Everyone

Founded by Mike and Jane Crossley in 1981, The Works began as a discount bookstore called “Remainders Limited” and has since evolved into a national creative powerhouse. Headquartered in Coleshill, Birmingham, the brand has built a reputation for making creative hobbies accessible to everyone. Their “Arts and Crafts” department is a centerpiece of the business, featuring their exclusive high-performance brand, Crawford & Black. From professional-grade canvases and acrylic paints to intricate craft kits and sketching tools, they cater to every skill level—from the toddler picking up their first paintbrush to the seasoned artist stocking their studio. Beyond fine art, The Works is a destination for puzzle enthusiasts, book lovers, and students, offering a diverse and ever-changing catalog of screen-free activities. By balancing massive variety with unbeatable value, The Works continues to be a cornerstone of the British high street, inspiring millions to embrace their creative potential every day.
