Helping 30,000+ UK artists save money on art supplies

Under the Rowan Trees: The Indie Haven for Journaling & Lettering

Founded in 2014 by Danielle Stanley, a former teacher turned “stationery addict,” Under the Rowan Trees began as a small hobby and has blossomed into one of the UK’s most beloved independent creative hubs. Operating from “The Rowan Room”—a purpose-built studio in Danielle’s garden—the shop serves a global community of journalers and artists. The brand is dedicated to moving beyond mass-market options, offering a handpicked selection of premium tools from global giants like Tombow, Zebra, and Kaweco, alongside unique products from independent UK makers.

Under the Rowan Trees is perhaps best known for its Rowan Berry Box, a monthly stationery subscription that brings a themed collection of “happy mail” directly to customers’ doors. Whether you are seeking hard-to-find Japanese pens, high-GSM journals for neurodivergent-friendly “dopamine” planning, or specialised calligraphy nibs, Danielle and her small team ensure every order is packed with a personal touch. By fostering a supportive creative community through their workshops and rewards program, Under the Rowan Trees empowers makers to slow down and rediscover the joy of analog expression in a digital world.
